My Goals for Every Birth

  • To be a consistent source of strength, encouragement, education, information, and resources for women of the childbearing age.
  • To provide a calm and peaceful environment for the laboring woman and her family.
  • To educate and assist in initiation of breastfeeding in mothers of newborn babies.
  • To provide labor support as early and as constant as my clients need it.  This includes within the hospital or home setting.
  • To broaden the support available to clients to a physical, emotional, and spiritual level, as needed and requested.
  • To suggest and provide as many comfort measures (such as touch therapy, music therapy, aromatherapy, counterpressure techniques, and position changes) as possible in order to avoid as many medical interventions and pain medications as possible.
  • To challenge and empower women regarding their abilities to birth their own children.
  • To avoid making decisions for clients.  I prefer to guide, educate, re-direct, suggest, and support.
  • To be a facilitator of communication between the client and their caregivers.
  • To photograph and log each birth, if time allows and at the permission of the client, in order to provide a written account of the birth.
  • To create an environment of respect and love between myself, my clients and their families, regardless of age, race, religion, or current personal circumstances.
  • To see a happy, healthy, and content Mommy and Baby!
